Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Nest collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it plain and honest — if anything is unclear, please get in touch.

Who we are

Nest is a family management app ("Nest", the "App") provided by Nest - Family Managment ("we", "us", "our"), based in Ontario, Canada. This policy applies to your use of the Nest mobile app on iOS and Android. By using Nest, you agree to the practices described here.

You can reach us about privacy at any time at .

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, a password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form), your chosen display name, and — only if you choose to provide it — a phone number.

Family content. Nest stores the content you and your family members create in the App: notice board posts, calendar events, reminders, birthdays, contacts, shopping lists, and shared expenses and settlements. Expense data consists of amounts and descriptions you enter. Nest does not collect or store credit card or bank account numbers.

Diagnostic and usage data. To keep the App stable, we collect crash reports and basic technical diagnostics, including error details, app version, device type, and operating system. This helps us find and fix bugs.

Subscription data. If you buy a premium subscription, our subscription provider and the app store process the purchase. We receive your subscription status and related identifiers, but we never receive or store your payment card details — those are handled entirely by Apple or Google.

Device permissions you grant. With your permission, Nest can schedule local notifications on your device for reminders, and can add events you choose to your device's calendar. These actions happen on your device. Nest does not read your existing device calendar entries or your device contacts.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

How information is shared

Within your family group. Content you add to a family — notices, events, shopping lists, expenses, birthdays, and similar items — is visible to the other members of that family group. Family administrators can manage members and approve or remove people from the group.

Service providers. We share data with trusted third parties who help us run Nest, including: Supabase (database hosting and authentication), RevenueCat (subscription management), Sentry (crash reporting and diagnostics), and Apple and Google (app distribution and payment processing). These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or us.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data storage & international transfers

Your data is stored on secure servers operated by our hosting provider. These servers may be located outside your country of residence, including outside Canada. Wherever your data is processed, it remains protected by this policy and by appropriate safeguards.

Data security

We protect your data using industry-standard measures, including encryption of data in transit and access controls that restrict each family's data to its own members. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to withdraw consent. You can update much of your information directly in the App.

To delete your account and associated data, or to make any other privacy request, contact us at . We will respond as required by applicable law, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where they apply to you, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).

Children's privacy

Nest is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create a Nest account. Nest is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. An adult account holder is responsible for any family members they add to a family group.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at .

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Your continued use of Nest after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
